I have been working in the racket sports industry for 13 years. Most recently I have just completed 8 extremely successful years of self-employment in the tennis industry, providing private lessons, group lessons, delivering cardio tennis fitness classes, inclusive programs for children and adults who are blind/VI/special needs and working with juniors at a high-performance level in tennis.

I have a real passion for working in the areas of diversity and inclusion. Sport is an industry that can bring people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds together - so I strive to keep diversity and inclusion at the centre of everything I do. I aim to make my colleagues and clients feel welcome and allow them to work, train, learn and most importantly enjoy themselves in a safe environment, free from the unwanted and unwarranted judgment or criticism from others.

In 2022 I successfully lead two overseas trips to La Manga Club, Spain. These trips were a bespoke creation of mine and business partner, Jeremy Coyle, who is a wine specialist from Sydney, Australia. These 5 days breaks were a hybrid of tennis and wine, leaving our guests feeling exercised and wined and dined. Most enjoyable.

During our visits to the La Manga Club, we came across the wonderful world of Padel. We rented two Padel Courts in between our tennis and wine schedules and the buzz for the sport was instant. Given we had a mixture of tennis and fitness abilities joining us on the trips, it was remarkable how quickly everyone was able to play competitive, yet social games of Padel against each other - without having to worry about the complexitites of technique compared to tennis.

When we returned to Ireland, the overhelming consenus from our guests was that they wanted more Padel - and after some research it did not take long for Jermey and I to realise there was a serious gap in the market to provide for Padel.

I successfully completed the Level 1 Padel Coaching Qualification with the Padel Federation of Ireland in August 2022 and formed Padel Tennis Ireland Ltd in December 2022 - with the goal of bringing indoor Padel to the people of Ireland. I am aiming for nothing short of creating Ireland's most diverse and inclusive sporting brand and making all who enter the doors of Padel Tennis Ireland venues feeling that they can play, socialise, and learn a new skill in the most welcoming and inclusive environment in the country.

My family would tell you that I was born with a tennis racket in one hand and a wine glass in the other (more about the wine glass later!) But my first memories of tennis were as a toddler on the side of the tennis courts, watching my mum Robyn play ‘ladies morning competitions’ around the
Northern Beaches of Sydney.

I myself have been playing tennis from the age I could hold a racket. I trained at the renowned Australian Tennis Academy (ATA) as a junior and started working for the academy when I turned 16. I continued coaching at ATA while attending university, studying my other passion..…..Wine!
I have officially been sipping and spitting for a living for the past 25 years, working internationally as a Winemaker, Wine Specialist and Educator for some of the largest and most prestigious companies in the world. Throughout my career, I have always been driven by the desire to help people and provide the best customer experience possible. I’ve always enjoyed providing a safe,
welcoming and engaging environment for people to grow and develop their skills and knowledge.

Padel Tennis Ireland will be no exception, providing world class customer service within the sporting industry. Every customer will be treated with the same care and respect, helping nurture their passion for everything Padel. I personally am looking forward to welcoming everyone of any ability, to our new state of the art Padel venue. Making everyone’s experience as fun and enjoying as possible, playing the best and fastest growing sport in the world…… Padel!

Laia Raigal

Laia, a Spanish native, started her sporting journey as a solid junior tennis player but her enthusiasm for racket sports took a very exciting turn when her club added two Padel courts. Laia has consistently secured a spot among the top 10 Padel players in her province in Spain. With the arrival of Padel in Cork, Laia has been a frequent visitor to Padel Tennis Ireland and has helped with many of our events – always happy to share her expansive Padel knowledge! Laia fully embraces the same inclusive values as Padel Tennis Ireland’s promoters, so she was an obvious fit for the role of our first coach.

Oscar is taking up the role as our junior coach and Padel HIIT deliver. 

Oscar has been playing racket sports since the age of 5 and has vast experience working with juniors on the tennis court, soccer, and rugby pitches. His love for Padel has made him the ideal candidate to instil a passion for the game into the younger members of the Cork Padel community.
